More Than Words by Mia Sheridan
5.0

I think that Mia Sheridan has changed my life. This is the second book by her that I've read, but it was just too damn beautiful not to rave about. I LOVE the childhood friends to lovers trope, it's the most adorable thing to ever exist to me. And I also loved Callen's character and I feel like we saw so much depth in character. Seeing his insecurities and inner thoughts - and hearing the battle of how he didn't even really like himself, but he felt like he couldn't be saved was just heartbreaking. I wanted to hold him in my arms, put my hands on his cheeks and just tell him how talented he is. I also loved Jessica's independence, she wasn't the typical female character who falls in love with a boy and all of a sudden is helpless and completely dependent on them and obsessed. Her fears all felt real, and being able to see her thought process from first kissing Callen again to running into him in the French countryside really felt like I could follow the relationship and relate to her actions. I also loved Jessica's work on the French translations for Joan of Arc because I myself am a little history nerd deep down on the inside. This was one of the first books that I've read in a while where I felt like there was a stab in my gut every time something bad would happen or butterflies at all of the happier scenes. I want a love like Callen and Jessica. They deserve the world.
