The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

5.0

This book. I think it’s going to be in my top 5 all time favorites. Ever. Not even because of Sophia and Luke, but because of Ira and Ruth’s love story. I found myself eager to read more of Ira while he was trapped in the car because that’s where I learned of the utmost love and devotion he had for his wife, Ruth. I know it’s only a story and fiction, but I can only imagine what having that kind of love would be like. It’s kind of insane. And ugh, all of the artwork discussed in this book was so impressive. I think i would have been struck more by the ending if I hadn’t seen the movie first a couple of years ago, but that doesn’t mean it was any less powerful. It was Ira’s final act to show the world that the paintings didn’t mean anything to him if Ruth wasn’t there to admire them. She was the one who provided their meanings and without her, they were just paintings that’s didn’t really carry any weight.

There’s also something to be said about Luke and Sophia’s story. The ease of their conversations and how quickly they got to know each other. I feel like these are things that are rare to happen, but when they do, you gotta hold on tight. It reminds me again of Ira and Ruth. Both different love stories, but the endings and meanings are the same. The person you love adds so much light to your life.

And the bull riding?!? Someone get me a fan. I have to admit, one of the draws to this book was the cowboy/bull riding aspect. I stayed for the characters and the message behind the cover though. There’s nothing quite like a love story set on a ranch in North Carolina. Sign me up for the next one please!! If there is any book of Nicholas Sparks that I recommend thus far, this would be my first choice. If that isn’t already clear by the length of my review. I need to own this book now, will be searching for it soon. READ THIS BOOK!
