The Gentleman From Peru by André Aciman

2.0

I usually love André Aciman's books for their deep characters and emotional storytelling, but this one  just didn't do it for me. The characters felt flat and uninteresting, which is a big letdown compared to his usual work. It's filled with what seems like forced "wisdom," reminiscent of The Alchemist, but it comes off as cliché and out of place. Plus, the plot randomly dips into magical realism, making the story feel scattered and aimless. If you're a fan of his previous books, you might find this one a letdown. I certainly did.
