To be honest I was not interested in Kingsley and Aspen's story at all. I love Rina so much, but the Empire series was not my cup of tea AT ALL. It was not bad, but it was average at best until the last two books. As I was saying, I did not get intrigued about Kingsley and Aspen and I almost did not sign up for their book, but I thought one more book won't hurt right?? I'm glad I made that decision lol.
So if you've read the previous books in the Empire series then you already know our love birds. Both of them have been through hell and back, but Aspen had it harder than Kingsley. She had shit parents and then after they were out of the picture she ended up living with abusive aunt/uncle who put her through the wringer. She got pregnant at the age of fourteen, and had a stillbirth which turned her to this cold detached person. So imagine her surprise when 20 years later, she finds out that her baby did not die and is actually the daughter of her boss/nemesis Kingsley Shaw.
I absolutely loved them!! I LOVED how Kingsley was supper JEALOUS AND POSSESSIVE about Aspen, like he would literally go batshit crazy when ever someone touches her. He went from "I'll just have a taste" to "I'm keeping her forever". I absolutely ADORE a possessive H, that's literally my kryptonite. (Amongst other things lol).
Aspen was an absolute QUEEN!! Regardless of all what she's been through, she was still standing on her feet. She was this sweet and caring mother who just wanted the approval of her daughter.
Their chemistry was scorching hot!! King is absolutely kinky when it comes to Aspen, he would leave hickey's on areas she couldn't cover so everyone would know that she belongs to HIM!!! Supppppppper hot
