Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams
3.0

I am not totally sure where I land on this book. It had a really nice last 1/3 of the book, the resolution and the work that Queenie did to get to where she ended was really inspiring and wonderful to read, however the beginning and even middle parts dragged a bit and felt like there was no concrete path of her journey. It meandered a lot and I wasn't sure there was an actual plot to follow which made it a little frustrating to put up with the grating bits where you just wanted to shake Queenie and most of the people in her life for choices they were making. I think the writing is pretty good and once the overall story got to the climax and worked its way towards the resolution it got going and you really wanted to stay on reading so you could see where Queenie would end up, how she would work her way through this difficult part of her life. So in the end I am not necessarily underwhelmed by this book, but I am not really overwhelmed either. I am just okay with it and content with being done and moving on from it.
