Brooklyn
by Colm Tóibín
It's a cute little chunk of life amalgamation of coming of age, immigration experience, and a period piece. The reader is kept at a distance from the protagonist, which I think is to the book's detriment, as it doesn't feel like you're experiencing it all with the character, rather you're given a very thorough description of events.
