This is one of the few stories I’ve read like this, where it’s a fiction but based from a real persons life. And I will say the only issues I had were I felt the feel and language was a little more modern than the 1800’s and as much as I loved watching this Black woman basically command the respect she deserved at times I felt like it was “too easy”. When in reality we know that’s not the case. BUT that definitely doesn’t take away all that this woman has accomplished in her life as this was based off a real person’s life. I loved reading about an encouraging and strong woman, mother, wife and business woman for once and not a sad story.
