On Thin Ice
by L.A. Cotton
This is the 2nd book in the Lakeshore U series, but 4th story overall. They can all be read as standalones, but you will get minor spoilers from the previous book. These books keep getting better and better. I feel like as the series continues, the stories get deeper with the different traumas and struggles and I love and appreciate that. This makes the stories and characters more real for me.
As soon as I heard Mason was getting his own story, I knew I was going to love him. I just love me a grumpy alpha-hole, who has doesn’t let anyone know what he feeling and always has his guard up. He always assumed the worst when it came to Harper and I love how she just kept chipping away at his hard exterior and burrowed her way into his heart. UGH!!! I loved reading about Harper’s growing relationship with Aurora, as Harper really felt like an outsider to me. Never really had any true/deep/meaningful connections with anyone.
The relationship between Harper and Mason is more of a slow burn and when they finally cross that line and get together, ITS HOTTTTTT. I could not get enough of Mason and Harper. Scottie though def was a scene stealer.
I could not put this one down and read in less than 24 hours. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series, it’s def become one of my favorite hockey series out there and LA is def becoming an auto-buy author for me!
Tropes:
-Hockey romance
-Grumpy x Sunshine
-Coach’s daughter
-Found family
-Autism rep
-Celiac rep
Overall: 5
Spice: 2.5
Thank you to the author for providing me an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
