kimham_bookstagram 's review for:
The Book Thief
by Markus Zusak
More often than not, when I read a book on one of those “Books That Everyone Should Read” lists, I find myself scratching my head. The latest novel to fall into that category is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
The plot sounded intriguing (set in Nazi Germany and narrated by Death), and the writing was easy to read, but the storytelling style was more like short stories or a series of anecdotes, and that just didn’t work for me. I found it bland, way too long and slow-paced.
However, don’t listen to me and find other reviews because most people really liked this one.
