10 Things I Can See from Here by Carrie Mac

5.0

This book was SO excellent that I simply devoured it in one day! From the first page, I knew I was getting into something that was going to be way more deep than the casual observer could tell.

Maeve, the main character, suffers from a severe anxiety disorder. This leads her to worry incessantly about things that other people might not give a second thought. While my anxiety is not as severe as Maeve's, I was able to relate to her situation quite quickly. As the story progresses, however, we find that not only is she suffering from her own disorder, she has to suffer through a parent's addiction as well, being a survivor of an attack, and being displaced from her home, however temporary. It's a lot for even a neurotypical to deal with, but for Maeve it's overwhelming in the extreme.

What I loved most about the story, was watching Maeve learn and grow and connect with another person who didn't expect her to be anything other than what she was, and to try to help her through the worst of it. We all deserve to find that person who can see us at our worst and still love and respect us unconditionally.
