The Forgetting Moon is one of the more disjointed Fantasy reads I’ve dove into in a while. There is a rich and interesting world here that is filled with mostly interesting enough characters that are given enough to do for a decent overarching plot. Where I really struggled was I never felt the author trusted me to follow the plot or learn anything for myself. It was so info dumpy that I audibly sighed multiple times, it wasn’t just thorough it was best over your head repeatedly. The other problems stemmed from awkward dialog, overly convenient antagonist monologues that POV characters overheard, and one specific secondary character that made every scene agony. Overall, there is potential here it just needs a significant writing improvement.
