This book is perfect for those that love T Kingfisher books!

The worldbuilding was amazing, each place was detailed so well it felt like I was there with the characters, and I love the mixture of English, Welsh and Scottish places and folklore. With a dash of Arthurian legend.

The found family in this was so good and all their moments both the good ones and the bad ones was done so well.

It did take me a bit to get used to the writing style with the strong inner monologue, but once I got to the 150 page mark I couldn’t put this book down.

The villain felt at times a bit flat and I would have loved to of read a bit more about his backstory inbetween his origins to his journey to cross paths with Jenny. I wished we got a bit more from Brackus too like we had with Temperance and Jenny.

I do love a quest story and this book really does deliver with different mini quests in a quest. But I do wish that Jenny wasn’t the main key to completing each quest, it would have been nice if it was Brackus or Temperance that completed one.

I didn’t expect that twist which I really loved because it had me in shock! There were at times when this did feel a bit emotional and I was here for it.
