Loathing You by Amina Khan
5.0

This… was… precisely what I wanted and needed. Loathing you currently has me in a chokehold!

Amina Khan is a talented writer.

Loathing You is and enemies to lover, rich mean girl, fast-paced romance book. This book reminds me exactly of Mean Girls if Regina George had come out lesbian.
The writing in this book is well done, and the characters are written so that you can understand and feel for them.

Now I’m going to be honest: I love Juliette and Adaline. I love their dynamics. I especially appreciate the fact that Amina didn’t rush to change their dynamics and showed both of the character's confusion to change in feelings.

Also, Juliette’s coming to terms with being a lesbian and how it’s presented with her internalised homophobia was done so correctly because not a lot of other books address the fact that some lgbtq people have internalised homophobia when not coming to terms with sexuality and identity. Juliette’s character couldn’t be written any better.

As for Adaline, her character has been through a lot of trauma, pain and change, and the book shows her as a strong woman who had to adapt, but slowly, she lets her feelings be revealed to none other than her enemy Juliette.

Loathing You does cover some sensitive topics that some readers may struggle to read, but the way it is covered is with clear respect and knowledge, which is something you don’t see a lot of Authors do.

I will continue to rave about this book as it is one of the best books I have read so far this year. So it’s a massive recommendation that more people check and read this fast-paced, dark, enemies to lovers and rich mean girl book.

Trigger warnings:
Lesbophobia, Sexual content, Homophobia, Toxic relationship, and Biphobia, Physical abuse and Death of parent.
