The fact that this was based on a true story makes it even more interesting than it already was, but I felt like the ending was a bit rushed, and much more tell than show, if that makes sense. Perhaps the author was on a tight deadline or there was a hard limit on word count. Either way, the story transitioned to a more tell-y style and a much faster pace toward the middle and end than it had at the beginning, which made the tale feel a bit disjointed.

That said, it was a fun read, and I'll keep it on my shelf to come back to another time.
