Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
3.25

It was alright. Dark Matter felt like a very literary take on complicated science. The second half of the book was stronger; it moved away from the constant love/sex/relationship focus and leaned more into the premise’s interesting possibilities. Crouch definitely explores compelling ideas, but the execution didn’t quite click for me.
I was a bit peeved that the main character explained psychology to a therapist, and
equally peeved that said therapist wanted to sleep with her client’s alternate-timeline version. Like come on, multi-dimensional HIPAA helllooooooo.
I’d be open to reading more of his work, though I think Dark Matter is better suited to readers less inclined toward traditional sci-fi. If you’re a fan of Andy Weir, Philip K. Dick, or similar authors, this might read like a watered-down, topical version of those kinds of stories.
