Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor
Did not finish book.
The author has an intriguing premise and a good turn of phrase but I kept putting this book down and having to force myself to pick it up, which is crazy because I'm a fan of history, time travel and humorous British lit.
Ultimately I didn't really know why I should care or what Max was trying to achieve. The side characters were interchangeable and I was astonished when one seemingly big adventure finished, with no real consequences, and I discovered I was only 1/3 of the way through the book. Facing three months' worth of Max and her unpleasant sidekick prepping for TheBigOne, I abandoned the book. I have no idea what the point is and I'm weary.
It really was just one damned thing after another.
