Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters
by Abigail Shrier
challenging
dark
emotional
medium-paced
This book is a non-factual, opinion piece masquerading as science nonfiction. While the author has some interesting points that could have gone somewhere, she is determined to use any current problem to turn ppl against transgender individuals. She tries to make it seem that transgender people are liars, cheats, and all about ostracizing your family. It's really sad that instead of really looking at the teenage girls she is focused on, she glazes over their problems to use them. Parents she has contribute end up sounding controlling and huffy that their daughters did something they don't approve of without their consent. Wrote a more indepth review on goodreads, but don't want to bother transferring it here. Overall the book is transphobic, no matter how much the author says she respects adult trans people.
Graphic: Transphobia, Gaslighting, Dysphoria
Moderate: Eating disorder, Sexism, Suicide, Toxic relationship
Minor: Misogyny, Self harm
Take content with a grain of salt as writer does not use actual science to back her opinions.
