This book was a surprise on all the fronts, both positively and negatively. In fact, on one hand it made me realize that I tend to not enjoy particularly vampire stories, on the other it was the perfect transitional book to get into the fall mood. I know my first statement is hard to take, and it is so for me too, but, after reading a few books featuring vampires or werewolves, I realized that I rarely enjoy books where the supernatural aspect of the story takes over everything else. This amplifies even more if there is also a romance component between s
a human and a supernatural creature. Nevertheless, thanks to the setting and atmosphere of the novel, I was able to have an overall enjoyable reading experience, especially due to the time of the year I've read it in. I would indeed recommend this book as the perfect fall read to enjoy with a warm cup of coffee and a lit candle, but maybe not if you aren't a fan of vampires. Lastly, I would suggest checking trigger warnings before diving into this story.
