False Memory by Dean Koontz

4.0

This was just fun, nothing more. I think Koontz might've been trying to be deep or provocative in some areas, but I really couldn't tell nor care less if he was. This was my first Koontz book and reading it was akin to watching a film like Die Hard. Earth shattering brilliance? In some scenes, yeah, while other scenes are pointless or dumb. Super deep and interesting characters? Maybe one or two but most everyone is just your average Joe thrown into an over the top event. A super complex plot that makes complete logical sense? No, there are some leaps in logic required from the audience to fully appreciate and enjoy the book. But you know what? Who cares, the tension was high, the stakes kept getting higher, the twists were put at just the right spots. There were a couple leaps in logic that were a little too far, i.e. one character makes one pretty gigantic leap about halfway through and with very very very little clues he pretty much solved the whole mystery. Come on, Koontz. That was a little stupid and too far from a logistical perspective. Things like that are why it's 4 instead of a full on 5. Not even a 4.5, im satisfied with just a 4. It was super fun, a consistent page turner with suspense right up until the final chapter, with some silly sequences thrown in but it's just a fun book at the end of the day. And that's not a bad thing.
