Hex by Jenni Fagan
5.0
This short book packs a punch! I loved the narrow scope of this story, by focusing on Geillis Duncan in the hours before her execution, I felt completely invested in the story and in the fate of persecuted women.
Bullet review:
- Sharp and poignant
- Based on Scottish history
- North Berwick Witch trials
- Commentary on sexism
- Lyrical and moving prose
The relationship between Iris and Geillis showcases just how important companionship is during hardship. A truly excellent and imaginative take and a must-read for anyone interested in witch trials and feminism.
