“Because we’re friends.”
His laugh is short and bitter. “Your ability to lie to yourself is remarkable, lass.”
I’m hurt, defensive, and angered by his words and his tone, which indicate he thinks I’m a complete idiot. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He leans in closer, so close we’re nose to nose. He says with soft vehemence, “It means we’ll never be friends.”

the only book that i would read many times and never get bored of. it genuinely lifts up my mood whenever i decide to pick it up. at this point, i have lost count of how many times i went back to it and read a scene, or a passage or just the whole thing. also, after reading the acknowledgements and finding out what inspired the author to write this story made it all the more special. cam and joellen will always have a special place in my heart. j.t. geissinger’s most iconic couple and no one can change my mind. <3 the ice cream scene will be living forever in my head rent free.
