Once again Kristin Cashore did not let me down. Those book was delightful, but also had me on the edge of my seat at times.

We get the perspectives of Bitterblue and Gideon from the previous books. But we also get the perspective of a few new character including Lovisa. It took me a minute to adjust to the characters and the new world we are in. But Lovisa grew on me and I hope we see more of her in future books.

This books is a lot more political than what I normally like in my fantasy books. It was my least favorite part of the book. Maybe that's because the political system in Winterkeep is so similar to our real world. I wish the politics where better wrapped up in the end. But that would probably take another book to conclude.

Like most of other books in the Graceling series, this book was overall slow paced and character driven. But there were parts that were suspenseful, that I couldn't stop reading too.
