Madame Doubtfire by Anne Fine

4.0

I never realised that Mrs Doubtfire the Robin Williams movie started life as a British children's book. It's quite funny - and different. The quarrels between the divorced Hilliards are much harsher, and the precipitating incident leading to the discovery of Madame Doubtfire's identity are slightly more adult (hint: Daniel Hilliard's job in the book, rather than sweeping the floor of a studio, is as a nude art model). Worth reading even as an adult.
