Surprisingly as good as everyone always says. It's pretty outdated in terms of style, since I don't think anyone dresses like a 90s Yankee anymore, and I think boys' school uniforms don't have the giant pants now. But the story of a boy starting a sport to impress a girl he likes and then coming to love the sport is pretty timeless. Hanamichi should be annoying but comes off as endearing because he's earnesd and shows a lot of emotion. I don't like Rukawa because he's so cold, but we'll see, since I'm sure he'll change throughout the series. I laughed way more times than I expected, and the art is quite good. Haruko is super pretty.
