Years ago, Zach Bridger married and quickly divorced Rebecca Pratt. The worst decision of his life… Not only was it an unpleasant marriage, but it left him with the medical POA for Rebecca, which he was forced to exercise when she was assaulted by Eban Clarke, leaving her in a vegetative state. Zach ultimately allowed Rebecca’s parents make the decision to keep her on life support, but four years later, he is forced to rethink that decision as Eban is released from prison early. According to Kate Lennon, a beautiful and determined state prosecutor, the only thing that could send Eban back to prison is if Zach pulls the plug and changes Eban’s assault charge to murder. Zach is back to dealing with the dilemma he faced four years ago with one added complication, his feelings for Kate…

My boyfriend picked out this book for me for Valentine’s Day and I must say the boy has a knack for picking out great books🩵 Overkill felt like a mix of several genres including legal thriller, romance, and suspense, which blended so well that I couldn’t put it down. I thought the characters were well written and found myself having very distinct feelings toward them, including absolutely HATING Eban and loving Kate. I feel like the topic of life-sustaining measures has become a hot button since the pandemic and this offered a unique, thought-provoking perspective.
