The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

4.0

Let’s format this review with “the good”, “the bad”, and “the ugly”, shall we?

THE GOOD:
Snaps and claps for the short chapters and easy-to-follow multiple POV’s. Usually I’m anti-anything-with more-than-two-pov’s, but Lucy Foley made each perspective and individual chapter just as intriguing as the next. Seeing how Ben was Lowkey manipulative with each character was suuuuper interesting and each had a huge impact on the story’s progression. It was truly a page turner. I enjoyed the (semi?)level-headed MC, and how she trusted absolutely nobody, even though at times she would put up that facade. I definitely did NOT expect the father of the family to be deceased, especially at the hands of Mimi. I definitely thought he just did something to Ben and dipped.

THE BAD:
From the time that the other room was mentioned, I knew that Ben had to be in there. It seemed pretty obvious that the dad would have been involved somehow, considering he was nowhere to be seen, and the relationship between Ben and said father seemed too perfect.

THE UGLY (aka the question that remains for me, personally):
Why were Jess & Ben let go? They had so much against the family that it just didn’t seem plausible that they were just let go. I mean, there was an attempt of reasoning provided but I feel like that just wasn’t quite enough…

Ultimately, if you’re looking for a quick and engaging thriller to hike up your reading goal numbers, I think this is for you. However, if you’re looking for something where you’ll be hit with the unexpected time after time, this might not be up your alley. For me though, it gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I’ll be picking up others by this author!
