This was a fun and thought provoking read. I just wish the twist was more grounded? It lost me a little when the rest of the story felt so real. And the end made me so sad, like

no Nella! You’re just going to give in? I want another book where she gets herself back, although I guess this is a thriller and not a fun fantasy novel. 

Also the pink scars were never explained? Was that just only on  Shani and mentioned so we’d know it was her?

I read an advance edition so idk how much, if any, of the writing was changed.
