I love this author. I have been slowly perusing her backlist and discovering her style for maybe a year or so now. The premise of this book was unexpected for me. I didn't read the blurb, I just jumped in blind so I was pretty shocked to see we started with such a tragedy even though I've read other books in the series with similarly dark openings. Anyway, the three love interests each had their strengths for me. I wish there had been more balance among their page time and I would have loved to see more of Vaughn in the story overall. I feel like he really took a back seat to Brook and Shaw which was disappointing for me because I liked him so much from the jump whereas I was more put off by Shaw for a portion of the book. I enjoyed the story overall and thought the resolution was mature and satisfying though a bit quick.
