Whit by Cora Rose

4.0

This was a good distraction read, I loved all the cuddling and clinginess, the hurt comfort angle, and how easily Caleb’s family accepted Whit… but I’m gonna be super honest and say I don’t really understand the hype over the book too. It’s cute, the 3rd act breakup was emotional (and I wish the audiobooks did trigger warnings, because hoo boy the self harm and suicide stuff needed it), and the characters were OK but a lot of it felt really shallow and rushed. I wanted more depth to their connection beyond “I cuddled you a ton and think I’m gay for you” and “I liked taking care of you and how clingy you are”, and I wanted to know more about Whit. We get a LOT more of Caleb, and I get that it’s partially their personalities but we know next to nothing about Whit, so it felt very one sided and lacking in that regard.

It’s not a bad read by any means, I was just left wanting more substance if that makes sense.
