Stay Awake by Megan Goldin
2.0

The narration of this audio book was Terrible, with a capital T. I almost DNF this book just due to the over the top, awful narration provided. Hated it, do not recommend this in audio form.

Maybe, just maybe if I was reading it, the writing wouldn't appear to be as bad as it was?

The premise, Liv has some sort of fugue amnesia, every time she falls asleep she forgets everything for the past 2 years and 3 months.
She finds out she is the prime suspect in a murder investigation, she not only doesn't know who was killed, she struggles to know herself.

This premise sucked me right in, I needed to know all the things, I had all my guesses on hand, was she a sleeper agent? Was she drugged so bad she had permeant damage? Was there an accident?

I was ready for a Memento type of story, relying on photos, journals, writing on the body, anything to keep her in the know of what is going on.

The actual reality of what was given to us, sadly left me disappointed for a multitude of reasons.

While Liv was looking for answers, anytime one was about to be given, she'd run away for no reason.
Her notes on her hand were useless, for the most part they said 'stay awake', 'don't go to sleep' and don't trust anyone. There was NOTHING further to help her remember anything. It was useless writing.

I could go on and on, however I'll just end with that this book was a quick read, the beginning was entertaining and had me wanting to know what was going on and why, but by the end, I was just annoyed and sad I gave this book so much of my attention.
