The Zahir by Paulo Coelho
2.0
I really liked Coelho's book, The Alchemist. I chose this book for a challenge on GR without realizing this was written by the same author. Immediately, I was excited to read it, recalling some 15 years ago how much I enjoyed The Alchemist. This was a disappointing comparison. There were still some great quotes and stories, but the story just didn't capture me. It seemed so redundant, even as new events were occurring. The MC's stream of consciousness really got on my nerves and I found it to be endless prattle. He was so self-centered and spoiled; he had no appeal and I hardly cared about his quest. No spoilers here, but after all the work of reading to the end (and it was work!) the ending was very unsatisfactory.
