emmadalrymple 's review for:
Revenge of the Librarians
by Tom Gauld
This could be subtitled “Reading and Writing Books in the Time of COVID.” Gauld is a bibliophile’s cartoonist whose work frequently appears in The Guardian and The New Scientist, and his latest collection will appeal to anyone who loves books. Now that I think about it, Gauld’s work reminds me a lot of Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next series in terms of his clear love of books, riffs on the literary canon, and sheer silliness — but with Fforde’s zaniness turned down a few notches.
