I'm really looking forward to the sequel but this book was... difficult for me to enjoy.

I absolutely hated the sheer amount of sex scenes without any chemistry or actual connection. I get that it had a point but how many times does a point need to be made kitten? I felt indifferent to begin with and then gradually sickened. Meryn also drove me crazy with how little effort she made with anyone around her. It was all for good reason character wise and I do understand why she was like this but it's infuriating to read.

On the plus side, everything I hated about this book should no longer be an issue in the next one so I'm here for it.

I loved the world, the direwolves and the mystery. The chemistry between the main character and her love interest was fantastic and I'm so excited to see all of those things develop in the second book.

Anassa is amazing, I love her. Saela is fab and part of a really intriguing plotline, the friendship dynamics in the pack are great. Genuinely loved every single part of this book except for Killian. But there was so. much. Killian.

Little bonus for the Waterstones sprayed edge edition - I so, so enjoyed the climb up the mountain happening in the book at the same time as you went up the mountain turning the pages of the sprayed edge. That was actually a delight.

I don't think I've ever read a book before where I've disliked reading it and simultaneously been so excited for the sequel. I am very confident that book 2 is going to be a 5* read for me (which is why I persevered).

Please please please allow Stark to speak in the second book!!!!
