Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

5.0

A trip to the movies and a trailer for the new Ocean's movie sparked a craving for a good heist read. Six of Crows summary promised me exactly what I wanted. Criminal mastermind and impossible heist you say? um, yes, please! And I got exactly what I wanted, and more. Like the name implies the story revolves around a cast of six characters that make up a ragtag team of thieves, liars, and gamblers. Quickly I realized that the point of view shifts between the six and I was a little worried. My experience with more than two POVs in other stories has not always been stellar but luckily my fears were unfounded. Kaz, Inej and rest of the gang all have such distinctive and interesting personalities I looked forward to each change over eager to know all their internal thoughts at the twists and turns they were encountering. Leigh Bardugo's writing is beautifully crafted making it easy to imagine you are there amongst the characters. And it's always a plus when I'm reading and an author manages to take a turn I didn't see coming.
