Entertaining from start to finish! I enjoyed this book’s smart structure, unique characters, and discussion of language, origin, and “nativeness.” The theme of less-than-perfect mothers seemed a bit too easy, and old fashioned—honestly, Freudian—which took away from the honest and painful yearning for a mother who has disappeared.
