The Short End of the Sonnenallee by Thomas Brussig

2.0

Undoubtedly my loss, but I just didn't 'get' this book at all.. The teenage characters all live on a road, the fag-end of a much longer street which continues beyond the wall in West Berlin. They fall in love, make crazy plans, defy parents, as teenagers everywhere do, but all in the shadow of their East German lives. I'm supposed to find it funny and charming. But I just - didn't.
