The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus

5.0

This book was so beautiful. There were passages that I highlighted and re-read because they just spoke to me so deeply. I got very emotional at times (not cool on public transportation, but it happens) and just needed to take a second to collect my thoughts.

The characters! How could you not love and root for Audre and Mabel? Ursa and Jazzy, we should all be so lucky to have friends like that. And how could you not wish for a grandmother like Queenie? The parents, Uncle Sunny and Ms. Coco and Mr. Sequan. Their love for their daughters was beautiful.

I have to digest this a little more, but I really and truly loved this book.
