janesbookshelf3 's review for:
The Great Alone
by Kristin Hannah
What to expect: 1970s/80s setting, Alaska setting, family drama, strong women, small town
This one took me a while to get into, I liked the second half of the book more than the first. I kept thinking it was going to turn into one of those survivalist movies where they are stuck somewhere for the rest of the book, so I'm glad it didn't do that.
This book surprised me, and I really enjoyed Leni and her mom, and of course Large Marge was a true MVP. I didn't cry during this one, but I did tear up a few times, and I could see why others sob. This book was heartbreaking, stressful, hopeful, and prolly took a few years off my life.
