i couldn’t finish it. i had so many high hopes for this book as a lover of greek retellings. im sure i wouldve loved it if i had not read the iliad for a greek literature class. i know these characters so well from the original text. i was so excited to see how madeline miller was going to get me to care for achilles who is so absolutely awful in the iliad. the way she did was by completely changing his character!! and patroclus is just a little baby who his only character trait is loving achilles. come on now.
