Eliza and Her Monsters
by Francesca Zappia
"You found me in a constellation."
This book reminded me a lot of Fangirl, but it was way better!!!
The cover was super cute so of course I had to pick it up in the bookstore, and then the book sounded cute too so I brought it home with me. And I loved it!
It was a fast read with text messages, emails, profiles and cool art slipped in every now and again. Seeing Eliza's art was added a nice touch, and now I want the author to actually write Monstrous Sea !!! Please? It would be super cool!
I loved the characters. Wallace Warland is the coolest name ever and his profile "rainmaker" is awesome too.
Eliza was easily relatable to me because I'm awkward and get really shy around new people. In middle school, I talked to more people online than I did on "real life." And she loves her art! She loves what she's created and she feels that it's part of her! She gets sucked in and it's all she wants to focus on. I feel like that every time I start writing a new book. Eliza and I could be friends lol.
Another thing that I loved about this book was that it balanced the romance and Eliza's comic and her sudden social life outside of a screen.
I didn't like the fast break up and get back together because I hate those parts in contemporaries. But don't let that stop you from reading it! It was mega cute and very quick and fun!
There are soooooo many things I could talk about with this book but I'm going to keep this review short because I'm tired and I want to go work on my book lol.
