3.75

Audiobook Review. After three books of Duet narration with fantastic voice actors, this book is Dual narration, and the male narrator is so god-awful I almost DNF'd what was my most anticipated book of the series. He sounded like he was doing a bad Phil Hartman impression. I'm not kidding, just listen to the sample and then go pull up a YouTube clip from an Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer skit. If he's doing the next book, I might not even buy the audiobook. Which sucks because I love this series. But for real it was that bad.

This is the book I was most excited to read, and honestly it's painful for me to rate it so low even if 3.75 is still good. But after parsing my feelings about the content apart from my feelings about the audiobook recording, I was still left kind of disappointed. This book just felt so rushed! We have no time to explore the barriers that kept them apart in the first place. While I loved the world building and plot in this book as much as I've loved it all the rest, but in this book it felt like the romance took a slight back seat to all that.

That said, the book is still enjoyable and I'm still going to add it to my book shelf. But sadly it's my least favorite so far.
