Another top rated book, I was excited to get my hands-on. I think it fits perfectly in YA. Our young characters are the right blend of resourceful and naive. Similar to the Mystery Inc, you spend half the time wondering how Pippa hasn’t been arrested. From impersonating to breaking and entering, this girl really knows how to live dangerously. The fact that Pippa’s parents seem to let her get away with everything because she is such a studious kid does feel weird. I’m all about trusting your kids, but this was bordering on absent.

I love the “Watson” character of Ravi. I think he adds humor to the story and the romantic undertone does not take away from the plot. He was also the only prominent person of color and I thought he was represented well. He definitely is British, but you can see how his background limits the things he can do over Pippa. It makes up for the fact that Pippa’s stepdad being Nigerian feels like a fun fact that is dropped almost immediately.

I thought the book was good. I liked it. It reminds me of Nancy Drew and Scooby Doo with a modern twist. It wasn’t spectacular, but still a fun read for all ages!
