The best Bob Ong book that was ever written! I have read MacArthur way before back in high school or college, and I was unimpressed. Kapitan Sino, though still not his best, was written better like watching a funny superhero movie with a few dramatic scenes which is popular here in the Philippines, and in some parts, a subtle sampling of what Bob Ong’s writing might take form in Si.
It was very different, way off bat from his usual with a prose simple yet poetic, and heartfelt, displaying a maturity in his writing. Perhaps, this is Bob Ong tempering down with age?
Si might have lacked the signature acerbic nature of his previous works which might have appealed to his fans and fans-alike, and to which his popularity may be attributed, still I would go around raving to people about this book simply because this is Bob Ong at his best!
