The Humans by Matt Haig

2.0

I could see where this book was heading to mile off and because of that, couldn't enjoy it. It felt like everything that happened was a means to an end, and made the entire reading experience feel really disingenuous.

A jaded alien (MC) / suicidal human (Sebastian) realises that there's something more to life and makes it that's worth living for. Their eventual realisation didn't come about via slow development; it seemed like the one, inevitable ending that this book would certainly go down. I hated that, and I hated that I was right. This book was too simplistic and straight forward, and much too obvious for my liking. I managed to get through the whole thing, but man, considering I'm the demographic this book should resonate with, it was really not for me.
