This was an incredible sequel. Everything was elevated – the writing, the plot, the devastation. 

My only critique would be that the author doesn’t seem fond of letting Darrow lose. He seems to be the luckiest person when it comes to surviving attempts on his life or having his secret plans and machinations work out to an often flawless precision? 

The ending was brilliant –

I’ve been waiting for the Jackal’s mask to drop.

I’m very intrigued to see how Darrow and the remainder of his loyal following will fare in the next book.
