The Story of Human Language
by John McWhorter
This is an absolutely fabulous audiobook!
The author begins with the broad strokes of the history of humanity’s earliest languages and details the various changes in the development of human language throughout time. He also describes and juxtaposes various quirks of human language as he contrasts said quirks between different prominent languages around the world.
This audiobook proved to be an incredible introduction into the study of human language and I will definitely pick up the texts that the author recommends within this audiobook (including one of his own texts).
If you’re interested in studying linguistics, this audiobook is for you!
