meghankg 's review for:
Firefly Summer
by Maeve Binchy
It is really unfair for me to review a Maeve Binchy book, as I find it truly impossible to be anything close to objective. I keep returning to her stories for a reason: They draw me in. "Firefly Summer" is everything I expect from a Binchy novel, engaging characters who are drawn with an almost effortless realism and situations that are both ordinary and incredibly engaging. To say I devour her novels is an understatement. If I have one "complaint," it is only that the novel (even after 600+ pages) ended too soon. I wish I could live in Mountfern forever, finding out what happens to its citizens for years to come, that is how beautifully Binchy creates a sense of place and engages her readers with that world. Highly, highly recommend.
