This is my first League tie in novel and it was very well written and Ambessa is an interesting character. She’s so driven by ambition and what she thinks her father figure would want for her, that she often brushes off that little voice in her head that tells her she’s doing the wrong thing. She’s crazy ruthless and bloodthirsty. That dude Menelik straight up created the monster and then had the nerve to give leadership of the clan to someone else. Didn’t even have the balls to tell her. So many things could have been avoided if he just talked to his 2 choices. But she loves her children and her husband and it was good to see those sides of her. I love her character in Arcane and I like here.
This being a standalone it didn’t give every character quite enough room to breathe. But we see lovely Mel and learn more about the Black Rose. We also get the back story of Rell. I’m kinda hoping for another novel for her.
