Decorated war hero with PTSD and his peculiar neighbor fall in love via letters she wrote as her more conventional friend. Shenanigans ensue. I really liked this book, but maybe shouldn't have read a book about a war with Russia while Russia is actively attacking Ukraine. I appreciated Captain Phelan's criticisms of war as much as I appreciated Bea's interactions with Phelan's dog.
