The Lost World: The Junior Novelization by Gail Herman

3.0

Over all, not a bad book. The story is a bit weaker than the original book, but the characters a bit better. The book still doesn't seem to know what to do with a female character, making her (because of course there's only one grown ass woman in the book) alternate between the damsel in distress and the hero of the day. It added two kids in place of an IT guy for no other reason than to add drama, and it showed--at least the girl in this duo had value, the girl from the first one was just there to check a diversity box (female: check). They offered much needed computer help, but I find it hard to believe that, emergency mission or not, people who don't know how to use computers would take computer-guided equipment with them without bringing a proper computer person. It was a hackneyed reason to get kids in there to put them in danger.

Anyhoo, I yelled at this book a lot, but I also kept listening to it (yup, audio) when I could have moved on to something else, so it's not a completely horrible book, it's just annoying at times.
